Prada (I know, I know)

Hey groovy kids, Pino is back on the interwebs and ready to do what I do fairly okay at!

I know I have ranted and raved about how pathetic Prada are if they think decent human beings are going to spend USD$1500 on a shoulder bag or USD$240 on a pair of casual flats, despite the fact that their clothing isn’t usually that innovative (at least when push comes to shove), but after seeing their 2010 spring campaign I just had to show it to you folks (I still wouldn’t buy ANY of it and I encourage you all to buy well made fakes in defiance).

Needless-to-say, Yang Fudong, the photographer and mind behind this campaign, has outdone himself.

Countdown to Violence

Rarely does a fashion collection grab my attention like Nom de Guerre Autumn 2010 collection, Countdown to Violence. From the ‘trailer‘ directed by Zach Gold that reminds me of the PMC ads directed by Logan at the beginning of Metal Gear Solid 4, you know that Nom de Guerre means business. Featuring VERY slick military inspired clothing that is as menacing as it is cool. It is just a pity that the price tag is way out of my reach.

How Long Are Your Pants?

I must admit, the majority of the Trussardi 1911 Spring 2011 collection is rather impressive, until however, you have a look at the length of the pants. This may seem like a pretty petty thing but it makes a really nice outfit look like you cannot afford to go buy pants that actually fit you. Plus, there are a few ‘Village People’ moments here that I would rather not see ever again.

Once You Go Black, Do You Ever Go Back?

I am really getting this vibe from myself when I browse store racks or some online retailer’s pages for a new suit, jacket or coat. It’s not that black is my favourite colour, far from it, but when it comes to something like a suit it just looks so good you cannot pass it up. I was then reminded in a recent conversation with Rhonda that I used to dream of a VERY green suit (the green colour is the chartreuse closer to green than the yellow variety) that was (and probably still is) available for a quite modest price in a store in town which is similar to this suit:
KELLY GREEN DRESS SUIT - Lucky 86
Do I or don’t I? I really have no idea whether it will make me stand out of the crowd in a good way or in a morbidly embarrassingly way. This usually wouldn’t effect me except for the little fact that you usually wear a suit to special occasions and I’d hate to ruin it for every one else (especially my date) if it happens to be the latter.

On a positive note though, this double-breasted orange suit:
Salvatorre Ferragamo - Chocolate Male Style
…instilled me with some hope that such bold colours that I usually keep reserved for my tie collection are running to the suit’s themselves. That was from the spring 2010 collection (my Autumn).

At the end of the day I do think it’s safer, at least for the time being, to stick with my bold blacks (and occasional brown with sky-blue pinstripe) and leave the bold colours to my ties and boxers.
